The Council for the Mathematical Sciences (CMS), with the support of Professor Andrew Noyes, Chair of the Joint Mathematical Council of the UK, is consulting on proposals for a National Academy and a Connected Centres Network. The Louis Bachelier Prize is a biennial prize jointly awarded by the London Mathematical Society (LMS), the Natixis Foundation for Quantitative Research and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI). The winners are prominent personalities, widely recognized in the academic and professional worlds of quantitative finance and/or risk management.
The Society is delighted to announce that it will be providing financial support for the inaugural Namibian Olympiad in Mathematics. Current LMS-Mentoring African Research in Mathematics (MARM) partner, Professor Letterio Gatto (Politecnico di Torino) has been collaborating with colleagues at the University of Namibia (UNAM) with the goal of obtaining support for the Olympiad.
In an effort to streamline and simplify the procedure to assess LMS-HIMR Undergraduate Research Bursary (URB) applications, the аĿª½±Early Career Research Committee intends to create the аĿª½±Advisory Board for Undergraduate Research Bursaries of up to 10 people to look at the applications. This board should cover the breadth of mathematics. Its membership will be known to the applicants.
